11:50p Farewell, India
The past few weeks in India can be summed up by a chain of vignettes: rickshaw-wallahs calling us from every street corner, steaming hot chai doled out in plastic cups on the train, dusty urban streets dotted with cow shit, merchants insisting that we come to their shops, "only see, no buy," fighting to keep our places in line against the stream of people shoving past, willfully ignorant middle class indians looking in the other direction as beggars plead for spare change, feeling guilty for doing the same, bollywood dance scenes set in exotic locations that make no sense, indian head bobbles, delicious food at every turn, uncomfortably long train rides, dragged to hotels by commission-seeking taxi drivers, incessant stares, self-satisfied hippies swathed flowing ethnic garb, alternating between detesting everything and being charmed by it all the same.

Rich and me at an apparently iconic dome structure, trying to look happy despite the fact that Agra is one huge pain in the ass.
For our last night in Delhi, Rich and I splashed out on a flash hotel and have only left its refuge for food. Tomorrow, we fly to Bangkok for the shortest layover we could manage, then on to Melbourne. I can hardly wait. While it's no San Diego it's still a hell of a home to come back to. I've been dreaming of my first meal back for weeks now- a McDonald's triple cheeseburger and chocolate milkshake. Farewell India, helloooo beef!!!
